How to make autumn's cutest Halloween pumpkins with beads and bead plates

Halloween crafts with PhotoPearls & double-sided adhesive sheets

Personalize your pumpkins – cute, happy or just a little scary – with beaded eyes, cheeks and mouths. This craft is perfect for kids and adults alike.

You need:

A hand places pink PhotoPearls beads on a round bead plate, next to several other bead plates with eyes and mouths for the pumpkin.

Step 1 – Design & Bead

Decide on the style: mischievous eyes, rosy cheeks, kind or spooky face. Bead the motifs (e.g. two eyes, a mouth and two cheeks). Try different colors – white/black for eyes, pink for cheeks or orange/black for a classic Jack-o'-lantern.

An iron fuses pink beads onto a bead plate using ironing paper, next to a large pumpkin.

Step 2 – Iron the motif

Iron gently. Place ironing paper over the design and use a hot iron until the beads melt together. Watch carefully so you don't heat for too long. A good tip is to iron on both sides for extra stability. Place a heavy book on top and cool flat. Get help from an adult.

Step 3 – Prepare the mounting surface

Cut a suitable piece of double-sided adhesive tape. Attach to the back of the bead plate and peel off the protective paper.

A hand attaches a beaded eye to the pumpkin to complete the face.

Step 4 – Give the pumpkin a face

Wipe the pumpkin dry. Place the eyes, cheeks and mouth until the expression feels right, then press the motifs firmly into place – especially carefully along the edges. Done!

Four finished Halloween pumpkins stand outdoors, decorated with beaded eyes, mouths and cheeks, surrounded by autumn leaves.

Smart little tips

  • Make multiple sets of mouths/eyes and change expressions whenever you want.
  • Bead mini wounds, teeth or eyebrows for more “drama”.
  • Mix pumpkin sizes and colors for a playful fall display.
